Virginia M. Briggs, 97, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Thursday, Oct. 15, 2015.
Services will be 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 19, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Burial will be at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery following the funeral service.
Virginia was born Feb. 15, 1918, to Franklin and Carrie (Williams) Mohler in Bedford, Iowa. On Aug. 1, 1938, she was united in marriage to Carroll Briggs in Anamosa. Virginia loved working in her yard and garden, but her biggest love was that for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an active member of Olivet Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her two sons, Dr. Dennis (Carol) of Muscadine, Ala., and Dr. Terrence (Kathy) of Marshalltown; six grandchildren, Sean, Dr. Chad (Tracy), John (Megan) and David (Melissa) Briggs, Sarah (Chris) Trosper and Susan (B.J.) Huss; 10 great-grandchildren, Abigail, John and Katherine Trosper, Anna, Lucy and Eli Huss and Jacob, Kathleen, Jameson and Harrison Briggs; and several nieces and nephews.
Virginia was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Carroll T. Briggs; her parents; and five siblings.
Memorials may be made to Olivet Presbyterian Church.
