VIRGINETTE "VIRGIE" LUNITA DINGBAUM
Manchester
Virginette "Virgie" Lunita Dingbaum, 85, of Manchester, Iowa, passed away on Monday, July 18, 2016, at her residence in Manchester. She was born on Sept. 14, 1930, in Luxemburg, the daughter of Clem B. and Lecodia (Thillen) Langel. Virgie was raised and educated in the Luxemburg area.
On Oct. 22, 1951, Virgie was united in marriage to Lester J. Dingbaum at Luxemburg. They farmed together by Masonville until 1980, when they moved to Manchester. Virgie worked at the Good Neighbor Home and Leonard-Muller Funeral Home for many years.
Virgie loved to cook and bake for her family and friends. She enjoyed jigsaw puzzles and word books. Virgie loved her family and spending time with them.
Virgie will be sadly missed by her husband of 64 years, Les Dingbaum of Manchester; her six children, Elaine Dingbaum of Cedar Rapids, Carla (Glen) Bockenstedt of Strawberry Point, Inez Dingbaum of Manchester, Mary (Kenn) Dighton of Manchester, Roger (Sheri) Dingbaum of Eastman, Wis., and Terry (Linda) Dingbaum of Healy, Alaska; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a special "daughter," Judy Phelps; one sister, Germaine Ungs; brother and sister-in-law, Melvin and Doris Langel; sister-in-law, Dorothy Langel; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Lavern Langel; mother- and father-in-law, John and Irene Dingbaum; brother and sister-in-law, Elmer and Mary Langel; sister and brother-in-law, Sally and Alvin Wegmann; brother-in-law, Art Ungs; and one great-grandson, Parker Donaldson.

Mass of Christian Burial: 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 22, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Manchester, with the Rev. John Kremer officiating.
Visitation: 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 21, at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home in Manchester. Friends also may call one hour prior to Mass on Friday at the church.
Burial: St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Manchester, Iowa.
