VIRGIL "PUSH" POSUSTA

Virgil John "Push" Posusta, 84, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, May 30, 2015, at Cottage Grove Place. Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 3, at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW. Burial will follow in Czech National Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to services.
Virgil was born Dec. 9, 1930, in Clutier, the son of John and Caroline (Hruska) Posusta. He married Claire Jean Ford on Feb. 5, 1955, in Cedar Rapids. Virgil proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He owned and operated Town and Country Barber Shop where he was a barber for over 20 years. He then worked at Quaker Oats for over 20 years, retiring in 1992. Virgil was a lifelong Cubs and Hawkeyes fan. He enjoyed family trips, bowling, fishing, gardening, hunting, cooking and visiting the family farm.
Virgil is survived by his son, Kelly Posusta of Douds; his daughter, Debbie (Joe) Holtzman of Cedar Rapids; two grandchildren, Carrie (Thomas) Hernandez of Valencia, Calif., and John Holtzman of Cedar Rapids; his great-granddaughter, Emma Claire Hernandez; his siblings, Donna Wilson of Nashville, Tenn., and Peggy Santman of Dysart; a brother-in-law, Kevin Ford of Troy Mills; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Claire, on Oct. 31, 2013; his parents; his siblings, Irene Weber, Pauline Junge, Maxine Sedlacek, Alvin Posusta and Larry Posusta; mother and father-in-law, Marguerite and Elmer Ford; brother-in-law, Craig Ford; and sister-in-law, Carol (Vince) Schnoebelen.
Memorials will be matched and sent to a children's hospital in his name.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the skilled nursing staff at Cottage Grove Place and to UnityPoint Hospice for their loving care for Virgil and his family.
