Violet J. Wisdom, 80, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, March 13, 2014, at Living Center East, Cedar Rapids. Services for Violet will be with her sister, Ann at 1 p.m. Monday, March 17, at Ridgewood Cemetery, North Liberty. Arrangements by Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her children, Brenda Myers of Des Moines and Beverly (Arnold) Lutheran of Oxford Junction; four grandchildren, Ellen Lenz and Christopher, Sandra and Rebecca Lutheran; six great-grandchildren; four sisters, Elsie Deason, Eddie Forde and Joan Gage, all of Cedar Rapids, and Mary (Gary) Oaks of Fayetteville, Ark.; and brother-in-law, Gilbert Riley of Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lemuel Wisdom; sisters, Annie Riley and Laura Beltz; and brothers, Freddy, Sonny, Roy, Louis and Ralph Beltz.
Violet was born Feb. 10, 1934, in North Liberty, Iowa, daughter of Glenn and
Ellen (Schminkey) Beltz Sr. She attended school in North Liberty. Violet worked as a caretaker in North Liberty before marrying Lemuel Wisdom. The couple then moved to Kansas. After Lemuel died, she returned to Iowa and worked at Goodwill. She enjoyed having her hair and nails done, going to garage sales, shopping and watching Westerns, most of all ones with John Wayne. Violet loved spending time with her family and grandchildren.
