Violet "Vi" E. Williams, 92, of Cedar Rapids, died Nov. 24, 2016, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids. Funeral service: 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 28, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Visitation: 10 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Vi was born April 21, 1924, in Osyka, Miss., the daughter of Louis and Allie (Wall) Barbier. She married Theodore "Ted" Williams in Chicago on Sept. 27, 1944. Ted died Dec. 8, 1997. Vi worked in production and management at Cryovac in Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her children, Ted (Linda) Williams of Ely, Patrick (Terri) Williams of Cedar Rapids, Chris (Gina) Williams of Hiawatha and Holyn Kim (Sam) York of Solon; eight grandchildren, Chet, Lisa, Greg, Ryan, Bob, Mike, Jon Patrick and Ashea Barbier; 12 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Vi was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three granddaughters, Karrie Williams, Amiee Madlane Sparrow and Ashley Williams; and her brother, Quill.
