Viola Riley
Viola Riley, 81, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, July 28, 2009, at the Hospice House of Mercy following a brief illness. Services; 1 p.m. Saturday at Teahen Funeral Home by Speaker Karen McCaa. Burial: St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may visit Friday at Teahen Funeral Home from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. and Saturday after 12 p.m. until the time of service.
Viola is survived by her husband Francis; daughter, Viola (Bernard) Steine; granddaughters, Lorette (Todd) Vanourny and Sherry Steine; grandson, Joe (Beth) Steine; great grandsons, Jake Vanourny and Trenton Steine, all of Cedar Rapids; three brothers, John (Jan) Hornstein of Monticello, Eldon (Adaline) Hornstein and Burton Hornstein, both of Cedar Rapids; and nieces and nephews.
Her two sons, John Riley and Timothy Varner, and her twin sister and best friend, Leola Thibadeau, preceded Viola in death.
Viola was born March 29, 1928, in Benton County. She married Francis Riley April 1, 1957, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. She worked at Wilson's for 18 years.
Her family surrounded Viola in love when she passed. Her greatest pleasure in life came from being with family and friends. She enjoyed bird watching, eating out, going to garage sales with her twin sister, walking, golf, and babies always made her smile. She will be greatly missed and never forgotten.
