Viola “June” Emerson, 97, of Marion, Iowa, formerly of Coggon, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at Linn Manor Care Center. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Central City, Iowa. Funeral service will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 10, 2024, at Zion Presbyterian Church in Coggon, Iowa.
June was born on August 26, 1927, in Washington, Iowa, the daughter of Harold and Gheula (Coakley) Ayers. On April 4, 1948, June was united in marriage to Roy Junior “RJ” Emerson in Coggon, until his death in 2002. She worked at Linn County State Bank in Coggon, Buffalo Oil Company, and Coggon Drive Inn along with being a farm wife. June will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
June is survived and lovingly remembered by her daughters, Nancy (Dave) Wittenburg of Hiawatha, and Vicky (Dave) LeClere of Coggon; grandchildren, Davy Wittenburg, Wendy (Cary) Crow, Heather (Patrick) Strauch, and Bradley (Kate) LeClere; great-grandchildren, Emerson Crow, Avery Crow, Ayla (Isaac) Luginbill, Zachary (Rachel) Price, Jesse Price, Yvette Strauch, Kennedy Strauch, Lanae LeClere, Lauren LeClere, and Lexi LeClere; three great-great-grandchildren, Michaiah June Luginbill, Oliver Jacob and Damien Arthur Price; and sister, Dorothy (Bill) Woods of Cody, Wyoming.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, RJ; sister, Waneitta Henderson; brother, Tom Ayers; and sister in infancy, Virginia.
Memorials in June’s memory may be directed to Kiwanis Miracle League of Linn County; PO Box 1201, Marion, Iowa 52302; or charity of donor’s choice.
The family would like to thank Dr. Mary Ann Nelson and the staff at Linn Manor for the loving care they extended to June.
