Viola V. (Johnson) Gorman, 93, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, March 4, 2015, at her home. Funeral services: 10 a.m. Monday, March 9, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Visitation will be Sunday, March 8, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, where the family will greet friends from 1 to 3 p.m., and one hour before services on Monday. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Survivors include her children, Linda Knowles of Durham, Mo., Joann Gorman of Cedar Rapids, Henry Gorman of Cedar Rapids and John (Beverly) Gorman of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Melina, Ellen, Jeffery, Jeramy and Leira; three great-grandchildren; sister, Velma Zubrod; several nieces and nephews; and her loving dog, Snoopy.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sisters, Dorothy and Maxine; and son-in-law, Raymond Knowles.
Viola was born March 19, 1921, the daughter of Henry and Jennie (Sheets) Johnson in Howard County. On March 19, 1946, Viola married John Gorman. She was a farmer for more than 40 years before working for Rockwell Collins as an assembly line worker.
Viola loved spending time in her garden and doing yard work. She had a love of fishing, and she kept all the little ones too. Viola liked to sew and do crafts. She also enjoyed canning, especially tomatoes.
She was a very hard worker and loved spending time with her family and friends.
