Viola L. Bryant, 93, of Bertram and Cedar Rapids, passed away Monday, Jan. 11, 2016, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Visitation: 9:30 to 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 15, at Immanuel Baptist Church in Cedar Rapids. Funeral service: 11 a.m. Friday at the church. Pastor Dan Wiersema will officiate. Graveside service: 2 p.m. Friday at Campbell Cemetery in Bertram. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion.
Survivors include her children, Paul Bryant of Bertram, Wayne (Alice) Bryant of Nashville, Tenn., Stephen (Angela) Bryant of Mississippi and Shirley (Daniel) Brown-Healy of Cedar Rapids; daughter-in-law, Carol Bryant of Hiawatha; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; three sisters; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Uland; her son, Darrell; and a brother.
Viola was born Aug. 3, 1922, in El Reno, Okla., to Howard and Ida (Neathery) Rush. She married Uland Bryant on Aug. 26, 1939, in Konawa, Okla. Viola spent her time as a homemaker raising her five children.
She was a longtime member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Cedar Rapids and had weekly Bible studies in her home. Viola enjoyed nature and loved feeding all family, friends and wildlife.
She was a servant and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
A memorial fund has been established in Viola's memory.
