Celebration of Life: 2 p.m. Saturday, May 14, at Vince and Carol's church, Unity Center, 3791 Blairs Ferry Rd. NE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52402.
Survivors include his wife, Carol; son, Barry (Becki) Woodson of rural Central City; daughters, Valerie McCallister (Bob Bartley) of Marion and Vicki (Tony) Laird of Fairfax; five grandsons, Tyler (Stephanie) and Tanner Woodson, Shane (Grace) and Cameron McCallister and Trent Laird; granddaughter, Hannah Laird; three great-grandchildren, Gabriel and Coraline Woodson and Smith Vincent McCallister; three sisters, Marcia, Rita and Nancy; four brothers, Gary, Jerry, Dick and Ronnie; and special uncle, Pete, of Baltimore.
Vince was born April 13, 1933, in Greenfield, Iowa, to Bernard and Edythe (Christiansen) Woodson. He was the oldest, with five sisters and five brothers. He married Carol Trachta on Aug. 18, 1961, in Loveland, Colo. They made their home on their farm in Marion, where they resided in an apartment in their barn. He became more involved with farming and raising livestock in 1968, when he and his wife bought a farm north of Alburnett, where they lived for 23 years.
He received his master's degree in industrial education on Aug. 17, 1961. He served in the Army, receiving much of his college education from the GI Bill. He taught industrial arts at Marion High School for 16 years, and was an assistant coach. He started the baseball program, constructing the diamond with farm machinery borrowed from his father-in-law, Leonard.
Vince was involved in Cub Scouts, was a 4-H leader, served on the Alburnett school board, and, along with his wife, was active in the Linn County Cattlemen's Association for several years. He enjoyed his family, dogs, golfing and early in life, leather tooling.
Vince enjoyed traveling with Carol, and musicals, especially at the beautiful Paramount Theatre in Cedar Rapids.

A special thanks to Northbrook and Hospice of Mercy for their kindness and care during Vince's progression of Alzheimer's disease.
