Vincent, Steven
Steven Vincent, 49, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, Jan. 6, 2012, at St. Luke's Hospital. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Hiawatha. Friends may call from 5 to 7 Monday evening at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. A private inurnment will be held at a later date.
Steve is survived by his three sons, Quinn, Samuel and Connor Vincent, all of Cedar Rapids; his former wife, Sue Vincent of Cedar Rapids; a brother, Thomas (Georgia) Vincent of Perry; and a sister, Karen (Craig) Kaalberg of Davenport. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Marcus; and his father-in-law, Jim Green.
Steve Vincent was born June 28, 1962, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of John and Shirley (Schwaigert) Vincent, and was raised near Wellman. He was a 1980 graduate of Mid-Prairie High School and graduated from Coe College in 1984. He spent most of his career in sales, primarily in the transportation industry.
Steve was a referee for the Iowa High School Athletic Association. He was a coach for many sports, including basketball, football and baseball. Steve not only was a great coach to student athletes, but he also coached his own three sons. His love for teaching all aspects of sports to up and coming athletes was a true passion of Steve's, but nothing could replace his most valuable players - his three sons.
Steve will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A memorial fund has been established.
