Vincent McNamara, 82, died Thursday, March 24, 2016, at the Ed and Joan Hemphill Hospice unit at UnityPoint Health-St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids.
Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 29, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Prairieburg, with interment in St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call after 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello, has been entrusted to care for Vince and his services.

Surviving are his wife, Doris; five children, Ken (Teresa) McNamara and Lyle (Berna) McNamara, both of Prairieburg, Kurt McNamara of Coggon, Susan Shaw of Greene and Kay McNamara of Prairieburg; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two siblings, Frances (Harris) Harmsen, Monticello, and John (Jo) McNamara, Anamosa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Theresa Ann in 2002; three brothers, Rich, Virgil and Dennis; and four sisters, Lorretta Alves, Regina Ahlrichs, Pauline Kelly and Mary Burns.
Vincent Leo McNamara was born Sept. 14, 1933, in Winthrop, Iowa, son of Dennis and Mary Henry McNamara. Vince attended Anderson School in rural Linn County near Prairieburg. He was a farmhand and construction worker. Vince married Doris Plauer on Oct. 27, 1955, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Anamosa. The couple farmed in the Prairieburg area and Vince also worked for Able and Howe Construction Co. in Cedar Rapids.
Vince was a member of Laborers Local 43 and St. Joseph Catholic Church.
