Vincent L. Maurer of Iowa City passed away Dec. 14, 2018, while in Mercy Hospital after a sudden illness. He was 90 years old.
Vince was the son of Lila and Louis Maurer of Readlyn, Iowa. He was born Jan. 1, 1928. Vincent was a lifelong resident of Iowa City. He was a graduate of Readlyn High School, Wartburg College and the University of Iowa College of Law. Vince worked at First National Bank for nearly 50 years, where he served as senior vice president and senior trust officer.
First and foremost, Vince loved his family, as well as a good joke. He was known for his positive attitude and his love of life.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Sally. His family includes three children, Tom (Jeanette), Ginny and David (Susie); seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2018, at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, Iowa City, where Vince's family will greet friends after 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Instead of flowers and plants, memorials may be directed to St. Mary's Church or the Oaknoll Foundation.
