Vida Marie Engel, 89, of Marion, passed away Wednesday, April 12, 2017, at her home. Visitation: 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, April 16, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion. Funeral service: 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 17, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Marion, officiated by the Rev. Gregory R. Williamson. The family will greet friends one hour before the service at the church. Graveside service will follow at 2:30 p.m. in Pine View Cemetery, Delaware, Iowa.

Vida was born Dec. 17, 1927, in Delhi, Iowa, the daughter of Gustaf and Jennie (Kurth) Guetzko. She graduated from Delhi High School in 1945. Vida married Edward "Denny" Vesey in 1948. He passed away in 1972. She then married Jerry Engel in 1974.

Vida was an active charter member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Marion.

Vida is survived by her husband of 43 years, Jerry Engel; her children, Don Vesey, Chris (Casey) Orr, Cindy (Paul) Flickinger, Joe (Robyn) Engel, Reva (Ralph) Nieman, Vicki (Elgin) Lester, Tammy Brady and Tracy Pahl; 26 grandchildren; and 37 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Edward "Denny"; brother, Louis Guetzko; sister, Evelyn Berends; son-in-law, Matt Pahl; and daughter-in-law, Linda Vesey.
