Victor J. Ramsey, 71, of Fairfax, died late Thursday, Feb. 2, 2017, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. A celebration of Victor's life will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Papich-Kuba Funeral Home East, 1228 Second St. SE, Cedar Rapids. Burial will take place at a later date.
Victor is survived by his wife of 40 years, Marjorie; brother, Thomas (Shirley) Ramsey, Cedar Rapids; mother-in-law, Mildred Floyd, Cedar Rapids; sisters-in-law, Helen Ramsey, Waterloo, Kathy (Mike) Moel, Solon, Carol Hartl, Marion, and Denise Greazel, Waterloo; brother-in-law, Brant Lucas, Cedar Rapids; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Hildegard (Rude) Ramsey; brother, Darrell Ramsey; sister-in-law, Bonnie Lucas; and niece, Brenda Ramsey.
Victor was born Aug. 14, 1945, in Decorah and graduated from Decorah High School in 1963. Following graduation, he moved to Cedar Rapids. Victor married Marjorie A. Greazel on July 17, 1976, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Victor had worked for Penick and Ford and later at Midland Forge Inc. until taking early retirement in 1995 due to a disability.
Victor was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War stationed in Okinawa, and was a member of American Legion Pekomy Post 572 in Fairfax. He was a lifetime member of the NRA.
He enjoyed riding motorcycles with his niece, Brenda. Victor liked to go hunting and fishing and enjoyed tinkering with and repairing old equipment in his garage.
