Vickie Joy Gregg, 73, of Lisbon, Iowa, passed away Thursday, August 15, 2024, at Mechanicsville Specialty Care, Mechanicsville, Iowa. A visitation will be held from 5 - 7 p.m. on October 10, 2024, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Burial will take place at 10 a.m. on October 11, 2024, at Lisbon Cemetery in Lisbon.
Vickie was born on February 16, 1951, the daughter of Rev. Clinton Jeffers and Genevieve Luedke. She graduated from Lisbon High School and continued her education at Iowa State University and Dallas Theological Seminary, where she earned her master’s degree in Biblical Counseling.
Vickie’s life was a testament to her deep and abiding faith. A devoted Christian, she believed in a higher calling and was inspired by her faith to serve others selflessly. From a young age, Vickie felt a profound sense of purpose, driven by her desire to make a positive impact on the lives of those around her. This calling led her to pursue a degree from Dallas Theological Seminary, fulfilling a lifelong goal to deepen her understanding of her faith and better equip herself to help those in need. Her work as a nurse, administrative assistant, and later as a counselor was more than a career—it was a ministry, guided by her belief that she was meant to be a source of comfort, support, and guidance to others. Vickie’s empathy, kindness, and unwavering belief in the goodness of others reflected her dedication to living a life that honored her faith.
Vickie is survived by her children, Andrew (Malynda) Gregg of Glendora, California; Tim (Iris) Gregg of Ankeny, Iowa; and Kirsten (Rusty) Mensch of Dallas, Texas; her beloved grandchildren, Isha, Brooklyn, Kennedy, William, James, Declan, and Sydney; her sister, Cathy (Mark) Risse of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and her father, Clinton Jeffers of Lisbon, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her mother, Genevieve Luedke.
