Viall, Evelyn I.
Evelyn I. Viall, 88, of Belle Plaine, was called to be with the Lord and with her beloved husband, Carlos, Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2009 at the Belle Plaine Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Evelyn died peacefully, surrounded by her family. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Hrabak Funeral Home, Belle Plaine, with a vigil service at 6 p.m. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Belle Plaine, by Deacon Joe Behounek.
Evelyn was born on Nov. 5, 1921, in Belle Plaine, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Rose (Peska) Dvorak. She was united in marriage to Carlos W. Viall on Nov. 28, 1940, in Belle Plaine. He preceded her in death on Jan. 21, 1989. Evelyn lived her entire life in Belle Plaine.
Evelyn is survived by three children, Carlyn Prichard and Kevin Viall of Belle Plaine, and Cathi (William) Calderwood of Vinton; 10 grandchildren, James Prichard, Kim Purk, Kristy (David) Baburek, Danny (Diana) Viall and Brandon Viall, all of Belle Plaine, Kelly (Chet) Cooper of Cedar Rapids, David (Sherri) Prichard of Lansing, Nicholas (Jamie) Viall of Marion, Ryan Calderwood of Iowa City, and Brittany Viall of Williamsburg; 17 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Rose; her husband, Carlos; three sisters, Dorothy Landuyt, Rosalyn Wickwire and Shirley “Pat” Volk; two brothers, Charles “Chuck” Dvorak and Darrell “Jim” Dvorak; and a great-great-grandson, Kieran Kramer.
Evelyn was a kind, caring, loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and aunt. Her greatest joy in life was to be surrounded by her family and friends and she will be greatly missed by those left to mourn her passing.
We will have a lifetime of wonderful memories.
