Verry, Jeff A.
Jeff A. Verry, 55 of Clear Lake, formerly of Oxford, died Sunday, April 17, 2011, at his home following a sudden heart attack. The family will greet friends Friday, April 22, from 3 to 7 p.m. at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service, Iowa City. The family invites you to join them in sharing your stories of remembrance at 7 p.m. A reception will follow at The Kirkwood Room. Family committal services will be at a later date at Oak Hill Cemetery in Tiffin.
Jeff was born Dec. 1, 1955, in Iowa City, the son of Thomas L. Verry and Dorothy M. (Madden) Verry. He was a 1974 graduate of Clear Creek High School. On June 3, 1978, Jeff married Brenda Dunlap at Kent Park.
Jeff was a professional driver and was proud of his 32-year safety record. In 2007, Jeff and Brenda moved to Clear Lake, where Jeff hauled fuel for Pilot. In earlier years Jeff had farmed in the Oxford and Tiffin area. They had also owned and operated the Oakley Gun Club in Tiffin.
Jeff was an avid outdoorsman. Among his many outdoor pursuits were fishing and boating. Many hours of enjoyment were had on his pontoon boat. The times with his family on the boat were some of his favorite. His grandchildren were his pride and joy, and he was proud to be called “Poppy.”
Jeff was larger than life - a magnetic force field of his own. He lit up a room with his engaging personality, warm handshake and big smile. Jeff was a gentle giant and many sought him out for his wisdom and gentleness. His life will be celebrated and his legacy will go on forever.
