Vernon Wallace (Wally) Hootman, 79, of Cedar Rapids, passed away on January 18, 2024. A visitation will be held on Monday, February 5, 2024, from 4-7 pm at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Services will be held on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at 1 pm at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. There will be a Masonic Service performed at the end of the funeral service prior to dismissal for interment. There will be a grave site service and luncheon to follow at Cedar Memorial Family Center.
Wally was born August 31, 1944, to Benjimin and Celeste (Sight) Hootman in Keokuk, Iowa. He married Janice Winterowd on August 22, 1964. Wally gave over 50 years of service to Rockwell Collins.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, billiards, golf, bowling and barley pop. He was a great storyteller and masterful meat chef. Wally was a 45-year member of the FOE, CR Scottish Rite, and Mt Herman Lodge 263.
Wally was preceded in death by his wife Janice Hootman, his son Tyson Hootman and brother Michael Hootman.
He is survived by his children Terry (Audra) Hootman, Theresa (Larry) Harder, Tom (Latoya) Hootman, 14 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews Trent (Tammy) Hootman, Jared Hootman, Tammy Ryan, Tracy (Yvonne) Ryan, Gregory (Heidi) Winterowd, and Jennifer (Mark) Wilson.
