Vernon Eugene Miller, 78, of New Boston, Ill., formerly of Onslow, passed away Friday, Oct. 17, 2014, at his home. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 22, at Lahey Funeral Home in Wyoming, Iowa. Family and friends may call from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be held at Clay Cemetery with military honors.
Vernon E. Miller was born April 25, 1936, to V. David and Cora Helen Parsons Miller, in Kansas City, Kan. Vernon was a veteran of the Unites States Army. He served from 1960 to 1962. He married his first wife, Carolyn Kay Glassinger, and they were blessed with three children, Cindy Ann (Chip) Warren, Tamra Lynn (Monte) Trumbull and Bruce Alan (Cindy) Miller.
He was united in marriage to Bercitis Darlene Bickford and they were blessed with three children, Johnna Leigh (Craig) Rairdin, Dirk Dejhoun Miller and Lennie Dean (Joni) Miller.
On Aug. 26, 2003, in Aledo, Ill., he was united in marriage to Peggy Carver, she brought to the family three children, Brian (Stella) Long, Julie (Mark) Bacon and Paul (Trisha) Long.
He was a truck driver for more than 40 years. Vernon had a passion for raising and grooming dogs. He had a great love and talent for music. He was once in a band named Vern Miller and the Versatiles.
Vernon is survived by his wife, six children, three stepchildren, 13 grand-children, nine stepgrand-children, 13 great-grandchildren, 19 stepgreat-grandchildren and one brother, Curtis (Darlene) Miller.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his second wife, Bercitis; and a brother, Doyle Adrian Miller.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
