Vernon L. (Vern) Robinson, 87, of Wapello, IA passed away peacefully on December 5, 2024, at UIHC surrounded by family. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 14, 2024, at Campbell Cemetery located at 7449 Mount Vernon Rd SE, Cedar Rapids, IA.
Vernon Robinson was born on June 23, 1937, the son of Harley Frederick Robinson and Mary Elizabeth (Eversull) Robinson. On January 16, 1960, he was united in marriage to Mildred L. Robinson.
Vernon enlisted in the United States Navy and served from 1954-1976. After retiring from the Navy, he worked at Farmstead and St. Lukes Hospital.
Vernon enjoyed being outdoors, feeding the birds, squirrels, deer (all animals), listening to classical music, and spending time with family and friends.
Vernon will be deeply missed by daughter, Genevieve Wagg; daughter, Mary (Bruce) Bunten; daughter, Robbie Harover; sister, Mary Robinson; grandchildren, Nathan (Misty) Robinson, Katie (Michael) Jacobs, Brandy (Kurt) Schmidt, Kristie (Tyler) Rausch, Mandy (Heath) Barkley, Mark Bunten, Mitchell (Trisha) Bunten, many great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and many extended family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred; son, Vernon Jr.; daughter, Cheri; son-in law, Charles Wagg; father, Harley Robinson; mother, Mary Robinson; sisters, Genevieve Robinson and Vera Booth; brother, George.
