Vernon Eric Brown, 62, of Cedar Rapids, passed away May 5, 2022, in his home of natural causes. Celebration of Life services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, May 14, at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW. In accordance with Vernon's wishes, he has been laid to rest in Muslim National Cemetery.
Vernon was born Nov. 7, 1959, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Weber Patterson and Willa Brown. He graduated from Washington High School in Cedar Rapids, Class of 1977. Vernon was married to Chris Farrell on Jan. 25, 1991. To this union three children were raised. He was retired and enjoyed cooking, sports, archery and hunting. A lifelong fan of the Chicago Bears. Vernon's charisma was contagious and was known for always having a gigantic smile on his face. One of Vernon's greatest joys was firing up the grill to make his famous ribs. He was known for his incredible BBQ skills and loved to feed a crowd.
Vernon is survived by his children, Brittney (Marvin) McNutt, Jenna Brown and Amir Brown; six grandchildren, Paris, Sophia, Marz, Halo, Britt and Lux; his siblings, Vincent Brown, Victor Brown and Jason Brown, Weber Patterson Jr. and Keaver Patterson; the mother of his children, Chris Farrell; special family friend, Faye Spencer; as well as his nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Gary Brown; his sister, Vanessa Moreland; and his sister-in-law, Victoria Brown.
