Independence
Verna G. Schweitzer, 65, of Independence, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2016, at Buchanan County Health Center in Inde-pendence. A Celebration of Life will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, at VFW Post 2440, Independence.
Survivors include her husband, Sam; son, Adam (Mellisa) Schweitzer, and daughter, Jennifer (John) Bell, both of Independence; and grandchildren, Alex Carlson, Olivia Siglin and Alexis Schweitzer.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.
Verna Gail Shepherd was born Nov. 29, 1950, in Little Rock, Ark., the daughter of Clyde and Versa (Henning) Shepherd. She served in the U.S. Marine Corps. On Dec. 22, 1970, she married Samuel Schweitzer in Twentynine Palms, Calif.
She will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew her.
