Vern Coonfare Jr., 78, of Cedar Rapids, passed away on May 1, 2018, at home surrounded by his loving family. Per Vern's wishes, cremation rites have been accorded and no services will be held at this time. A private service will be held at a later date.
Vern was born on June 17, 1939, the son of Vern Sr. and Mary (Malone) Coonfare.
Vern was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, John, Ernie and Virgil.
Left to cherish Vern's memories are his wife, Cathy Coonfare; son, Vern III (Melonie) of Swisher, Iowa; son, John (Leanna) of Omaha, Neb.; daughter, Donna Coonfare from Tallahassee, Fla.; several grandchildren; many nephews and nieces; many friends; three brothers, Lawrence, Dale and Stephen; and seven sisters, Mary Ruth, Alice, Lora, Val, Colletta, Patricia and Pamela.
