Verlin K. Fall, 80, of Olin, passed away on Monday, Sept. 7, 2015, at his home.
His funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 10, at Lahey Funeral Home in Olin. A visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 9, at Lahey Funeral Home in Olin. Burial with military honors will be at Antioch Cemetery.
Verlin Kay Fall was born on Aug. 23, 1935, in Hale, Iowa, to Leo and Fawnie (Blythe) Fall. On June 17, 1962, he was united in marriage to Mary Barnes at the United Methodist Church in Stanwood, Iowa. He worked for his brother at Fall's Garage for five years and worked as a sawyer for Bahl Lumber in Oxford Junction for 30 years.
He was a past member of the American Legion Blayney Miner Ahrendsen Post 412 in Olin. Verlin served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1954 to 1957, spending time at Camp Pendleton and Twentynine Palms. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and hunting mushrooms. In earlier years, he and Mary went dancing three to four times a week. Also, he worked on the pit crew for his brother's stock car.
Those left to cherish his memories are his wife, Mary of Olin; a daughter, Kimverly (Michael) Harks of Marion; three grandchildren, Benjamin, Lucas and Kelsey; and a sister, Lila Aikman of Piedmont, Ala.
Verlin was preceded in death by his parents; and four siblings, Vern, Leo Jr., Wrenden and Lenta Jackson.
