Verla M. Longer, 90, of Monticello, died Monday, March 28, 2022, at the Monticello Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, April 1, at Calvin Sinclair Presbyterian Church, 715 38th St. SE, Cedar Rapids, where a funeral service will commence at 11 am. Rev. Dr. Dennis E. Morey will officiate. Private burial will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Cedar Rapids.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Willis; her daughter. Corlyn (Joe) Schreck of Kalamazoo, Mich.; son, Wayne of Monticello; three grandchildren, Nicholas Drake, Abbigail (Aryeh) Nussbaum Cohen and Benjamin Schreck; four nieces, Cindy Barr, Lynn (Ron) Millsap, Jill (Mike) Kach and Patty Marr; two nephews, Doug (Kay) Merino and Kirk (Denise) Nipper; nine great-nieces; two great-nephews; and several great-great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Vivian Huffman; brothers, Norman Nipper and Elvis "Bud" Nipper; and nephew-in-law, Gordy Marr.
