Verla Fae (Everett) Horner passed away March 5, 2014, at 85 years of age.
She was born near Edgewood, Iowa, in 1928 to Gerald and Eva (Shaw) Everett. Verla resided in Edgewood until 1954. She moved to Cedar Rapids and worked for United Fire & Casualty Co. until 1960. While employed there, she met and married Wallace H. Horner on Sept, 13, 1958. In 1960, she left the work-force to begin a family and instill in their children beliefs and morals the couple deemed important; we thank them both.
She was a lifetime member of Beta Sigma Phi and longtime member of Marion Christian Church.
Verla was preceded in death by her husband.
She is survived by her two children, Dave and Shari; two stepchildren, Bob and LuAnne; nine grandchildren, Brian, Rachael, Lindsay, Tyson, Mark, Annie, Madison, Spencer and Kelsey; nine great-grand- children; and a sister, Evelyn Meader.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 11, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. The Rev. Peter Mitchell of Marion Christian Church will officiate. Visitation will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will take place at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
