Verla Harris, 90, died Thursday, March 6, 2014, at Jones Regional Medical Center, Anamosa, following a sudden illness. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, March 10, at the Hopkinton Community Church, with interment in Hopkinton Cemetery. Friends may call after 9:30 a.m. at the church. Pastors Jan Lamont and Cheryl Gates will officiate at the services. Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello, is in charge of arrangements.

Surviving are two daughters, Cathy Harris, Hopkinton, and Barbara Harris, Monticello; and a sister-in-law, Virginia (Herman) Yossi, Monticello.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Frank; a daughter, Norma Ann; a sister, Dorothy; and a brother, Donald.
Verla Nadean Har-ris was born March 14, 1923, in Hopkinton, Iowa, daughter of Vincent and Myrtle Green Miller. Verla attended Hopkinton Community Schools. She later was employed at the Button Factory in Monticello. Verla Miller and Frank Harris were married June 2, 1953, in Monticello. Verla was a lifelong resident of Hopkinton.
She was a member of Hopkinton Community Church and the Delaware County Historical Society.
