Vera Louise (Bailey) Dunn
VERA LOUISE (BAILEY) DUNN Cedar Rapids 1/8/1933 - 6/15/2014 Vera Louise (Bailey) Dunn, 81, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2014, at St. Luke's Living Center West under the loving care of her family. Vera was born Jan. 8, 1933, in DeSoto, Kan., the daughter of Herbert and Anna (Behrens) Bailey. Bonner Springs, Kan., was her home and where she would marry LeRoy Duane Dunn. Vera was predominantly a homemaker, having raised seven kids while helping LeRoy run the family farm. She also worked outside the home at several places, including Jostens American Yearbook. Vera spent time helping with scouting and attended scholastic and sporting events of her kids. She enjoyed crocheting, word puzzles and was a whiz in the kitchen feeding her "army." She could be found most days in the garden, fishing on the river bank, working the farm fields or many other places she frequented in her active life. Vera loved to sit around and reminisce about all the many memories. The morning of her passing, Vera was joyful and laughing with Living Center West staff. She left her worldly body with a smile on her face and passed peacefully to be with her many family and friends waiting for her at God's side. Vera was preceded in death by one daughter, Audrey Rath, Ozawke, Kan. She is survived by her husband, LeRoy Dunn, Cedar Rapids; and remaining children, Kent Dunn, Perry Kan., Debbie Peters (Larry), Topeka, Kan., LeRoy Dunn, Perry, Kan., Russ Dunn (Wendy), Cedar Rapids, Bobby Dunn, Perry, Kan., and Sherry Priddy, Cedar Rapids; 23 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and her son-in-law, Steve Rath, Ozawkie. At this time, per Vera's wishes, no service will be held. LeRoy and Vera wish to have a joint memorial service in the future. However, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation in Vera's name: http://www.alzfdn. org/ContributetoAFA/ makeadonation.html.
