Vera Irene Flaa, 84, of Iowa City, died peacefully Sunday, Nov. 23, 2014, at Crestview Care Center in West Branch. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 26, at All Saints Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids, with the Rev. John R. Flaherty officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service. Burial will be at St Joseph's Cemetery in Iowa City.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to All Saints Catholic Church or the Alzheimer's Association.
Vera was born Jan. 6, 1930, in LeMars, Iowa, the daughter of Herman and Vivian (Sullivan) Rolfes. She married Edgar Richard "Dick" Flaa in May 1950 in Leeds, Iowa. Dick passed away in 1986.
Vera is survived by her nephews, Randy Beelner (Dee) of Cedar Rapids, Pete Beelner (Marie) of Iowa City and Bob Beelner (Carolyn) of Iowa City; and several great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Vivian Frey; and brother, Vince Rolfes.
