Vera Fenske Snow, age 95, died Thursday, March 22, 2018, at UnityPoint-St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Per her request, no services will be held at this time. There will be a graveside service in Cresco, Iowa, at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted with Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Vera was born March 27, 1922, in St. Clair County, Mo., the daughter of Ruth (Fye) and Henry Fenske. She came to Iowa while a small child. Vera attended the rural schools of Howard County. She graduated from Cresco High School in 1939, Trinity University in San Antonio in 1954 and from Paris Beauty Academy in Cedar Rapids in 1971.
T/4 (Sgt.) Vera Fenske married Capt. Werner (Van) Snow on Dec. 8, 1945, in Berlin, Germany, while both were serving in the U.S. Army during World War II. She was employed by Equitable Life of Iowa while in Des Moines and by Frank B. Hall Insurance in Cedar Rapids. Her greatest joy was her family, especially the three grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Richard Snow (Gil) and Jean Myers (Tim) of Cedar Rapids and Susan Snow of San Antonio, Texas. Also, three grandchildren, Dereck and Matthew Flickinger of Cedar Rapids and Jennifer Parsons (Jordan) of San Antonio.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Werner (Van) Snow in 2003; parents; her brothers, Lloyd, Bill, Tom, Calvin, Eugene and Verne; and a sister, Geneva Gager.
