Veneta Arlene Dickerson, 88, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Thursday, Dec. 29, 2016, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids.
Services are at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 4, at Hrabak-Neuhaus Funeral Service, Belle Plaine, with Pastor Kate West officiating. Burial will take place in Oak Hill Cemetery, Belle Plaine. Visitation will be one hour before the service at Hrabak-Neuhaus Funeral Service.

Veneta was born Feb. 26, 1928, to John and Olive (Fowler) Thede on the family farm in Tama County. After graduating from Tama High School, she married Paul Dickerson on Dec. 1, 1946. Together they raised three children in Cedar Rapids. Veneta worked at Quaker Oats for two years and in 1957, started at Rockwell Collins, where she worked for 28 years, retiring in 1985. The couple moved to Missouri in 1988 and split ways in the late 1990s. Veneta returned to Cedar Rapids in 2011.
She enjoyed playing bingo, country music and bowling. If the TV was on, she preferred to be watching Cardinals baseball and rodeos.
Veneta is survived by her children, Lea Stiffin and Larry (Barb) Dickerson, both of Cedar Rapids, and Linda Stakley of Missouri; grandchildren, Brandi and Dawn Stiffin, Jesse Stakley, Nicki Limes and Stephany and Mathew Dickerson; great-grandchildren, Mason Stiffin, Aubry and Jaxon Rosabal and River Limes; and sister, Alyce Sindt.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Chris, John Jr. and Raymond Thede; and sisters, Lola Schield and Elaine Dutoit.
