Velvette Mable Heath, 70, of Palo, died Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2016, at Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha after a courageous battle with a long illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Teahen Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. John Howerton. Friends may visit at the funeral home Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday after 9:30 a.m.
Velvette is survived by Daniel Dillemuth of Palo and many special friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Ronald.
Velvette Mable Heath was born Nov. 3, 1945, in Ames, the daughter of Emett and Jerine Kraft Abbott. She was a hair stylist and owned Velvette's Hairstyling in Palo for many years.
Velvette loved her animals, watching fireworks, working in her garden and spending time camping. Her work was her social life. She felt lucky that she got to spend time with her many clients who also were her friends.
A memorial fund has been established in Velvette's name.
