Velma C. Lynch, 79, of Manchester, died at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester on Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014.
She was born Dec. 23, 1934, in New Vienna, Iowa, the daughter of Cornelius and Eleanor (Funke) VonLehmden. She was raised in New Vienna and attended St. Boniface School.
Velma was united in marriage to Burnell A. "Bernie" Lynch on May 5, 1951, in New Vienna. They had five children. Together they started Lynch Roofing in 1956 and then moved to Manchester in 1962.
Velma was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. She enjoyed traveling and loved to go to Las Vegas.
Survivors include her four children, Diane (John) Thomas of Manchester, Gary (Mary) Lynch of Manchester, Linda (Don) Lawson of Delhi and Pat (Alexis) Lynch of Des Moines; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; her brother, Donald (Rose Ann) VonLehmden of Dyersville; her sister, Ruth Kinmonth of Bellevue; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Darlene (Charles) Loeffelholz, Roger Lynch and Donna (Al) Leibfried, all of Potosi, Wis., and Ev (Ken) Leibfried, Dale (Karen) Lynch and Connie (Tom) Loeffelholz, all of Platteville, Wis.
Velma was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bernie on May 14, 2008; her daughter, Mary Ann in infancy; her sisters and their spouses, Marlene (Lawrence) Oberbroeckling, Pearl (Edwin) Oberbroeckling and Viola (Gilbert) Knipper; and her brother-in-law, George Kinmonth.

Mass of Christian Burial: 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 24, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Manchester, by the Rev. Joseph Schneider. Visitation: 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 23, at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home in Manchester, with a Scripture service at 2 p.m., and one hour before services at the church on Monday. Interment: St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Manchester.
