Velma Jane Ledeker-Hussemann, 95, of Belle Plaine, passed away Saturday, March 18, 2017, at Belle Plaine Specialty Care in Belle Plaine.
Graveside burial will be at 1 p.m. Monday, March 20, in Manchester Cemetery, Manchester.

Velma was born March 9, 1922, the daughter of Arthur and Janey (Brummet) Peavler. In 1942, she married Ray W. Ledeker. Together the couple lived on their farm near Masonville, Iowa, where they farmed and raised their three children. Along with being a farm wife, Velma worked as a cashier, was a hairdresser, and owned the Coffee Cup restaurant in Manchester.
Following Ray's passing, Velma moved to Florida, where she met Herbert Hussemann. In May 1991, the two were married and later moved to Belle Plaine, Iowa, to be near family.
She was famous for her wit. Velma was a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. In her free time, Velma would often be found playing golf, cards or bowling with friends.
Velma is survived by her children, Dee (Thomas) Ritter of Belle Plaine, Leslie (Sharyn) Ledeker of Jay, Okla., and Joann Ledeker of Cedar Rapids; 11 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great- grandchildren; and many more nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; siblings, Fern Judge, Classena Bell, Lucille Billbe, Marilyn, Ernie Peavler, and John Peavler; one granddaughter; and two great-grandsons.
