Velma L. Chamberlin, 94, of Olin passed away on Sunday, Nov. 27, 2022, at Bickford of Marion Assisted Living.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, Dec. 1, 2022, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Dawson Funeral Services in Olin. A private family graveside will take place at the Olin Cemetery.
Velma Larene was born on Nov. 27, 1928, in Clarence, Iowa, to George and Tillie Harness. She graduated from Clarence High School. She was united in marriage to Gerald Frank Chamberlin on Dec. 1, 1946, in Anamosa, Iowa. She worked for Collins Radio for 10 years before becoming a stay-at-home wife to help on the farm and raise their six boys. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Olin. Velma enjoyed playing cards, sewing, Bingo and spending her evenings on her porch swing watching the sunset with her cherry slushies.
Those left to cherish her memory are her three sons, Mike Chamberlin of Olin, Rob (Marla Kaufman) Chamberlin of Cedar Rapids and Joe (Nancy) Chamberlin of Olin, 15 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a sister, Viola Johnson, three sons, Kenny, Dennis and Cleve, two grandsons, Tim and Daniel; and a granddaughter, Dawn.
Memorials may be directed to his family in her honor.
