VELDA IRENE DINSE

Velda Irene Dinse, 88, of Solon, formerly of Tipton, passed away peacefully at Solon Care Center on Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2016. A celebration of life service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, April 2, at Fry Funeral Home, Tipton. There will be a visitation from 1 to 2 p.m. An inurnment and graveside service will follow the service at Woodbridge Cemetery, Buchanan, Iowa.
A memorial fund in Velda's honor has been established.

On March 26, 1927, Velda was born to Carl and Anna (Ketelson) Osterkamp in Center Junction, Iowa. Velda attended Anamosa Schools and graduated with the class of 1944. She then met the love of her life, Hilbert James, and they were married Sept. 16, 1963, in Tipton, where they resided until Hilbert's passing in 2005.
Velda's years of employment were spent working at Rockwell Collins for 34 years. There she was a lead assembler and proud of her work on the Gemini and Apollo spacecrafts.
She was a member of the Swisher American Legion Auxiliary and of the Lutheran faith.
In Velda's younger years, she and her late husband enjoyed fishing and traveling.
Velda is survived by her niece, Mary Kucera of Solon; two sisters, Luella Bickford and Helen Gerst, both of Anamosa; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Hilbert James; and brothers, John, Louis and Elmer Osterkamp.
