Velda Marie Clark, 93,
of Manchester, died Thursday, April 3, at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester. She was born Sept. 23, 1920, in Delaware, Iowa, the sixth daughter of William and Sarah (Barker) Meader. Velda was raised and educated in the area, attended school in Delaware and graduated from high school in Delhi, with the class of 1938.
On June 8, 1938, Velda was united in marriage to Charles Leo Clark in Manchester. They made their home in Delaware, where Velda enjoyed being a homemaker. She worked as a waitress and as a clerk at the Truck Stop. Charles died in 2009 and Velda moved to the Good Neighbor Home in 2011.
Velda was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. She loved her family and enjoyed quilting, crocheting and embroidery work.
Survivors include three children, Claudette (Gary) Becker of Toddville, Allen (Jennifer) Clark of Kailua, Hawaii, and Kevin (April) Clark of Delaware; a daughter-in-law, Joan Clark of Manchester; six grandchildren; 21 great and great-great-grandchildren; and one brother-in-law, Cyril Clark of Ames.
Velda was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles "Bridgeman" Clark on Oct. 26, 2009; her son, Jan on
July 12, 2010; four grandchildren, Valencia Stoner, Brett Harlan Clark, Ken Allen Clark and Danielle Rene Moses; one brother, Forrest Meader; four sisters, Ruth Nelson, Marjorie Guetzko, Margaret Sutton and Berniece Shaw; plus one sister and one brother in infancy.

Mass of Christian Burial: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 5, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Manchester, with the Rev. Joseph Schneider as celebrant. Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 4, at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home in Manchester. There will be a 4 p.m. Scripture service. Also, friends may call after 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the church. Interment: St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Manchester.
