Vayla Jayne Waddington, 76, of Marion, passed away Thursday, June 8, 2017, following a sudden illness. The family will greet friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 14, at Hope United Church of Christ in Hiawatha. A Celebration of Life, conducted by Pastor Mary Beth Hartenstein, will begin at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Shiloh Cemetery, Hiawatha. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion.
Vayla is survived by her companion, Robert Burget of Altoona; three sons, Michael (Susann) of Seattle, Wash., John of Colorado and James (Lynda) of Marion; five grandchildren, Sara, Jocelyn, Unity, Samantha and Parker; one great-grandson, Leonardo; and siblings, Sandra Brewer of Hiawatha, Bill Kramer of Cedar Rapids, Tom (Judy) Kramer of Casa Grande, Ariz., Noel (K.C.) Kramer of Manhattan, Kan., Monte (Margaret) Kramer of Mount Vernon and Kirk (Jane) Kramer of Robins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lee; brother, Lanny; and grandson, Spencer.
Vayla was born Aug. 31, 1940, in Edgewood, Iowa, the daughter of Howard and Velma Kramer. She married Lee Waddington and together they raised three sons until his death in 2002. Vayla then met her life partner, Robert Burget. Vayla "Bubbles" was a longtime employee of the Hiawatha Post Office, retiring in 2000. Following retirement, she stayed busy traveling and volunteering for numerous organizations. Vayla was a very devoted member of Hope United Church of Christ.
