Vaughn, Ray T.
Ray T. Vaughn, 90, a resident of the Meth-Wick Community, died Friday, June 22, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center. Funeral services will held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 27, at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. The Rev. Bob David of First Congregational United Church of Christ will officiate. Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will take place at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 70 years, Bernice; his children, Judy (Dennis) Kimm of Cedar Rapids and David Ray Vaughn of Westminster, Colo.; his grandson, Mark (Cynthia) Kimm, also of Westminster, Colo.; and his sister-in-law, Mildred Vaughn of Katy, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Russell Vaughn; and a sister-in-law, Leona Kenner.
Ray Thomas Vaughn was born Dec. 30, 1921, in Belle Plaine, the son of Walter A. and Velma (Ray) Vaughn. He served his country honorably in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. Ray and Bernice were united in marriage on July 27, 1941, in Clinton, Iowa. He owned and operated Ray T. Vaughn Accounting for many years. Ray was an active member at First Congregational United Church of Christ where he had served as a deacon and director of Sunday school. He was also a member of several organizations that included: an over 50 year member of the Kiwanis Club, he began the Cedar Rapids Golden K Club, the Accountants Association of Iowa where he was a past president, Churches United where he was on the first board and was past president, the Witwer Senior Center where he had served on the board and volunteered, the Senior Advocates Inc. where he served on the board and a member of the Elks Club.
Ray was an avid golfer and enjoyed fishing and lake activities. His greatest enjoyment was time spent with his family. He will forever be remembered as a devoted Christian and husband. His beloved wife Bernice was everything to him.
Memorial donations in Ray's honor may be made to First Congregational United Church of Christ.
