Vaughn Denler
Vaughn Denler
Greenwood, IN
Vaughn Denler, 87, was born on October 14, 1937, in Lakota, North Dakota, to Harry and Ruth (Riemer) Saunders and entered her eternal rest on September 6, 2025, in Greenwood, Indiana.
Vaughn grew up on the family farm in Lakota alongside her parents and brothers, Lloyd and Dwight Saunders, where she learned the values of hard work, faith, and family that guided her throughout life. After graduating from Lakota High School in 1955, she attended secretarial school in Grand Forks, North Dakota, earning her associate’s degree. During those years, she met the love of her life, Bruce Denler, and they married in 1959. Their marriage spanned 57 years until Bruce’s passing in 2016.
In 1966, Bruce and Vaughn made their home in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where they raised their three children, who were her greatest joy. Vaughn worked for many years as a secretary at Rockwell Collins until her retirement. Beyond her professional life, she devoted her time and talents to Central Park Presbyterian Church as treasurer and served faithfully with Meals on Wheels. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life, and she was cherished within her church community for her hospitality, leadership, and servant’s heart.
Vaughn also loved the outdoors, especially camping. Family camping trips to Camp Wyoming, Iowa, and other vacation spots became treasured annual traditions. In retirement, she and Bruce enjoyed camping clubs and wintering at Countryside Camp in Arizona, where they formed many lifelong friendships. In later years, she found her greatest delight in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In 2014, Bruce and Vaughn moved to Greenwood, Indiana, to be closer to family.
Vaughn is lovingly remembered by her three children: Kim Denler Torrison (Greg), Kevin Denler (Veronica), and Rob Denler (Mary); five grandchildren: Leah Torrison, Chad Torrison (Sara), Abby Dailey (Troy), Will Denler, and Jonathon Denler; and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Lloyd Saunders; sister-in-law, Linda Saunders; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bruce; her parents; her brother, Dwight Saunders; and her sister-in-law, Joann Saunders.
