Vanous, Anya 'Connie'
Anya “Connie” Vanous, 71, of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday evening, March 23, 2011, peacefully at home after a lengthy and courageous battle with lung cancer. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Papich-Kuba Janeba Chapel West, by the Rev. William Harnish. Because of Connie's nature of always wanting to give, it was her wish to donate her body for the advancement of medicine. There will be no visitation or viewing.
Connie is survived by a son, Warren LeClere of Cedar Rapids; daughters, Rebecca (Art) Delp of Austin, Texas, and Christina O'Toole of Walnut, Ill.; and four grandchildren, Brittney, Cody, Andrew and Tiffany.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bud and Gloria (Sanchez) Myers; and a daughter, Ramona.
Connie was born Jan. 22, 1940, in Chicago, and graduated from McKinley High School in Cedar Rapids in 1958. She retired from Square D Co. in 2001 as a machinist with Union Local 831.
Connie enjoyed her pets, gardening, antiquing, crossword puzzles, playing cards and her family.
She will be missed by many.
A memorial fund has been established in Connie's name.
