Vanourny, Allan E.
Allan E. Vanourny, 96, of Fairfax, died Friday, July 8, 2011, at Heritage Nursing and Rehab Center, Cedar Rapids. Services will be 10 a.m. Monday, July 11, at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW. Burial will follow in Blain Cemetery near Swisher. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids.
Allan was born June 18, 1915, in Amana, the son of Ed and Clara (Schumacher) Vanourny. He married Emily Raim on July 10, 1940. Together, Allan and Emily farmed for many years in the Walford area. Allan enjoyed square dancing, fishing, and hunting with his loving companion Emily.
Allan is survived by his wife, Emily; a brother, Louis Vanourny of Fairfax; a sister-in-law, Martha Vanourny of Marion; as well as nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Edward and James Vanourny; and sisters-in-law, GeorgyAnn Vanourny and Margaret Vanourny.
