Andrew C. VanNevel, 85, died Thursday, Feb. 3, 2011, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids from complications following surgery. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 8, at St. Michael's Catholic Church, by the Rev. Michael Mescher and Deacon Joe Behounek. Inurnment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, with military rites. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Hrabak Funeral Home, where there will be a Scripture service at 6:30 p.m.
He is survived by his wife, Eleanor; daughters, Linda Roggentien of Belle Plaine and Susan (Mike) Rego of Portland, Ore.; sons, Bill (Cathy) of Belle Plaine and Jim (Tina) of Raleigh, N.C.; stepson, John Weaver of Marion; brother, Don (Jeanne) of Victor; 13 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Andy was preceded in death by his parents; son, Bob; sister, Clara Smith; and stepdaughter, Joan Weaver.
