VANESSA HALLIGAN
Clarksville, Tenn.
Vanessa Rae (Rammelsberg) Halligan, formerly of Cedar Rapids, passed away in her home on Dec. 23, 2021. Vanessa was born July 14, 1955, the daughter of Ruby Louise Gandy and Jim Rammelsberg. Vanessa spent most of her early life in Cedar Rapids. It was here she met and married Larry Halligan in 1994. When he passed in 2009, she spent a little time in Minnesota before moving to Tennessee to be closer to her family.
Vanessa is survived by a daughter, Angie (Don Sykes) Oster; and four grandchildren, Ashlee (Brandon) Neff, Sarah (Jay Smith) Evans and Trinity Oster, all of Clarksville, Tenn., and John (Carmen) Evans of Zanesville, Ohio. She also is survived by five great-grandchildren; her sister, Carolina DeShaw of Cedar Rapids; a niece, aunts and many, many cousins, all of whom will miss video chatting with her regularly!
Vanessa enjoyed playing cards and shooting pool. She may not have had much in this life but she had the love of her family and a heart of gold. She would do anything to help a friend in need. As she got older, she enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her whole heart!
Vanessa was preceded in death by her husband, Larry; her mother and stepfather, Ruby and Delbert Benedict; and an infant brother, Donnie Edwin.
Friends and family may gather to celebrate Vanessa's life on Jan. 7, 2022, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the VFW, located at 3420 Southgate Place SW. Condolences may be sent to Angie Oster at 122 Stephanie Dr. Apt. E, Clarksville, TN 37042.
