Vancura, Frances M.
Frances M. Vancura, 92, a resident of The Meth-Wick Community, died July 18, 2012.Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 21, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. The Rev. Paul Wilcox of Lovely Lane United Methodist Church will officiate.Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service Saturday at the chapel. Private burial will be held at Bohemian Cemetery, Omaha, Neb.
Surviving are her children, Robert Vancura and wife Sara and Jim Vancura and wife Barbara, both of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Tim Vancura and wife Lesley, and their children, Kennedy and Delaney, all of Marion, Heidi Vancura of Cedar Rapids and Cory Vancura of Des Moines.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Robert O. Vancura.
Frances Mary Vancura was born Oct. 5, 1919, in Omaha, Neb., the daughter of Frank and Mary (Mirasky) Shramek.She was united in marriage to Robert O. Vancura on Aug. 25, 1942, in Omaha.He preceded her in death on July 24, 1962.
She worked in her home but also assisted her sons in their businesses.She enjoyed sports, especially watching basketball and tennis meets of her grandchildren. She was a tremendous cook and baker and will be remembered for her volume cooking for small groups.
Her greatest love was her family who she was devoted to and was the center of her life.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the entire staff of The Meth-Wick Community and Hospice of Mercy for the kindness and care given to Frances.
Memorial donations in Frances' honor may be directed to the National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library or to The Meth-Wick Community Foundation.
