Van Houten, Wesley C.
Wesley C. Van Houten, 25, passed away Friday, Oct. 16, 2009 at his Coralville home. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, Cedar Rapids. Family and friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Wesley is survived by his father, David Van Houten of Ely; mother, Diana (David) Nelson of Manchester; brothers, Jordon Van Houten and Ben Nelson; sister, Courtney Nelson; stepmother, Debra Heath; grandparents, Beverly Heath and Jean Nelson; aunts and uncles, Linda Catlett, Marilyn Van Houten, Cheryl Schminkey, Carl Williams, Kevin (Mary) Van Houten, Ron (Lori) Weber and Leigh (Julie) Haug; and many cousins. Preceding Wesley in death were his grandparents, Carl and Winnifred Van Houten, Charles and Virginia Dougherty and Mel Nelson; an aunt, Carol Williams; and an uncle, Donald Van Houten.
Wesley was born Feb. 1, 1984, in Cedar Rapids, the son of David and Diana (Dougherty) Van Houten. He attended the Solon Community School District. He enjoyed skateboarding, snowboarding, Frisbee golf, fishing and mini hot rod tractor pulling.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.
