Van Fleet, Mary Louise
Mary Louise Van Fleet, 93, died Thursday, Dec. 24, 2009, at Silver Pines. Services: 1 p.m. Monday at St. James United Methodist Church, by the Rev. Beth Mary Straw. Entombment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. A visitation will be held Monday at the church from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
Survivors include her children, John (Greta) Van Fleet of Cedar Rapids, Patricia (Francis) LaBarge of Fairfax, Janet (Lowell) Harris of Atlantic, Roselyn (Bob) Pruess of Lisbon and Dyle (Linda) Van Fleet of Stockport; 11 grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; a grandchild; a great-grandchild; a sister; and two brothers.
Louise was born Nov. 29, 1916, in Keokuk County, to Anderson and Carrie Clubb. She married John Van Fleet on May 4, 1933, in Ottumwa. Louise worked for Cedar Rapids Community Schools Food Service in dietary. Louise was a great cook and the best dishwasher at church suppers but her greatest joy was her family.
The family would like to thank Hospice Compassus and Silver Pines staff for the loving care given to Louise.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. James United Methodist Church or Hospice Compassus.
