Van Deusen, Cyrus 'Cy' Angelo
Cyrus “Cy” Angelo Van Deusen, 56, of 675 Sixth Ave., Marion, died Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids, following a short illness. Services: 1 p.m. Monday at Teahen Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids by the Rev. Jeremy Higgins. Burial: Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Blairstown. Friends may visit with the family after noon Monday at the funeral home.
Cy is survived by seven brothers, Jim of Shellsburg, Charles of Old Town, Fla., Larry (Ruth) of Cedar Rapids, Jerry (Vicki) of Swisher, Ray (Terri) of Cedar Rapids, Thomas (Amber) of Springville and Dan (Serena) of Mount Pleasant; three sisters, Patricia (Naser) Shahrivar of Central City, Donna (Mark) Twomey of Macomb, Ill., and Dawn (Dan) Griffioen-Siemering of Cedar Rapids; his stepmother, Marie (Dan) Adams of Nauvoo, Ill.; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and grandparents, Kethe and Cyrus A. Van Deusen and Augusta and Acihl Foubert.
Cy was born July 4, 1957, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Cyrus and Ellen Foubert Van Deusen. He graduated from Jefferson High School in 1976 and from there he went to work for AEC.
Cy was a faithful friend always willing to help when you had a problem to solve, needed an extra hand with a project, or just wanted some company with a quirky sense of humor. Cy worked hard at rebuilding his house that was damaged in the flood. Cy enjoyed watching his favorite television shows which included the Red Green, Twilight Zone, Dr. Who and Nova.
We will miss his light tap on the door that only the dogs could hear to make sure we knew about a great deal he saw at the lumberyard or tool store. He was a very easy going man who never showed anger. Friends would always ask Cy to fix just about anything because they knew he would get it fixed for them. Cy was very inquisitive, asked lots of questions, and would explore every imaginable option to ensure consideration was given to every possible method or tool. He will be remembered for his hard work, dedication, and love for others.
Memorials may be directed to the family.
