Valliere, Louis W.
Louis W. Valliere, 90, of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, April 25, 2012, at St. Luke's Hospital. There will be no services. Private Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Arrangements with Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include a daughter, Judith (Eugene) Wieneke of Arizona; four grandchildren; brother, Richard (Marianne) of Portland, Ore.; sister-in-law, Jacqueline (Richard) Petty of Davenport; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Virginia; brother, Robert; and sister, Phyllis Oglesby.
Louis was born Nov. 5, 1921, the son of Joseph Walter and Mae (Snyder) Valliere in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. On April 26, 1942, he was united in marriage to Virginia Clayton in Kahoka, Mo.
Louis worked at Linkbelt-FMC for 44 years. He also served in United States Army in the 168th Engineer Combat Battalion during World War II and fought in the Battle of the Bulge.
A special thanks to the doctors and nurses at St. Luke's Hospital for the wonderful care he received. Also a special thanks to Sandy and his friends at the Village Inn.
